Abstract
This article reports an industrial chemical injury with methylene chloride burns. This chlrorohydrocarbon is a solvent and a component of paint stripper. Its metabolism leads to the formation of carbon monoxide, which binds to the haemoglobin and forms carboxyhaemoglobin. This helps to monitor poisoned patients not by the determination of toxic, but by that of carboxyhaemoglobin. It's an excellent biomarker whose kinetic feature continues to grow after cessation of exposure and under oxygenotherapy, which stimulates the metabolism.
