Abstract
The clinical case reported and commented is that of a 36-year-old female who developed a thrombophlebitis of the right ovarian vein 24 days after giving birth by caesarean section as revealed by ultrasonography Doppler and a dye CT-scan. This condition motivates a search for contributing factors (infectious, inflammatory, neoplasics, clotting anomalies). The existence of risk factors requires in subsequent pregnancy, specific care given the possibility of serious complications (extension to the inferior vena cava, to the renal veins, to the iliofemoral veins, increased risk of ovarian infarction, pulmonary embolism, toxin-mediated shock with multiple organ failure) fortunately rare for such pathology correctly treated.
