Abstract
The majority of family caregivers of patients in a palliative situation are in favour of these patients being informed in detail about their diagnosis and prognosis, recognising it as a right and as an aid to the patient. On the other hand, the fact that the palliative patients know their diagnosis and prognosis brings the professional closer to the patient. It is also a considerable help for the patient to cope with the disease, decreasing their level of distress, anxiety and suffering, promoting greater patient participation in decision-making, and allowing the patient to manage their personal affairs.
