Abstract
Caudal epidural anesthesia is used as pain control for many subumbilical surgical procedures. The epidural space is accessed through the caudal space with ease. Once entered into the space, drug can be injected or other levels can be accessed using multiple techniques. Besides passing a catheter, one can inject drug to provide a block for a specific amount of time. Certain drugs have been used to increase the duration and intensity of the regional block such as epinephrine, clonidine and other newer used medications.
