Abstract
In tumors less than 10 mm, symptoms of hyper- or hyposecretion should be investigated. When there are no symptoms of hormonal involvement, the most widespread recommendation is serum prolactin determination. Specific treatment is required in functioning microadenomas. In nonfunctioning lesions of between 2 and 9 mm, periodic hormone determinations and imaging tests are required. Follow-up of lesions less than 4 mm with normal hormone determinations is not recommended.
