Abstract
Apart from pituitary adenomas, a number of tumours may arise from within the sella presenting a diagnostic and therapeutic challenge at a multidisciplinary specialist level. This article focusses on the most commonly diagnosed non-adenomatous pituitary tumours (craniopharyngiomas, Rathke's cleft cysts and meningiomas) and provides data on their pathogenesis, diagnosis and treatment.
