RETRACTED: IL-37 reduces inflammatory response after cerebral ischemia and reperfusion injury through down-regulation of pro-inflammatory cytokines

This article has been retracted: please see Elsevier Policy on Article Withdrawal (http://www.elsevier.com/locate/withdrawalpolicy).Earlier this year the editorial office of CYTOKINE received an anonymous complaint that the data in the paper “IL-37 reduces inflammatory response after cerebral ischemia and reperfusion injury through down-regulation of pro-inflammatory cytokines” may not be reliable. Upon inquiry it was found that the IL-37 transgenic mice were never on the inventory of the supplier Jackson Labs as claimed in this paper. There was no response from the authors despite our attempts to reach them and request to clarify these discrepancies. More importantly, the authors of this paper are non-existent and were never employed by the Australian National University, Canberra, Australia. Under these circumstances CYTOKINE and Elsevier believe that this paper has no scientific value and the data in it should not be trusted any more by the scientific community. As such this paper is retracted now by Elsevier. The publisher apologizes to the readership if this has caused any inconvenience.
