Abstract
⺠Transgenic (Tg) Xenopus expressing VEGF-A in the melanotropes were generated. ⺠The Tg pars intermedia (PI) was highly vascularized but poorly innervated. ⺠In the Tg PI, the decrease in the expression of α-MSH and PC2 was noted. ⺠The Tg frogs placed on a black background displayed incomplete color change. ⺠In the Tg PI, not only morphological but also functional alterations were observed.
