Abstract
Benign metastasizing leiomyomatosis is a highly infrequent entity consisting of the proliferation and metastasis of smooth muscular tissue usually from a primary uterine myoma. The most frequent clinical presentation is benign pulmonary leiomyomatosis, characterized by the presence of metastatic lung nodes with no systemic involvement. Diagnosis is histological, defined by a low grade of mitosis and positive estrogen and progesterone receptors. This entity is typically benign and hormone-dependent. The aim of treatment is to decrease hormone levels through pharmacological inhibition and bilateral oophorectomy. We present a case of benign metastasizing leiomyomatosis in a 47-year-old woman who was diagnosed with endometrial stromal sarcoma.
