Abstract
Patients with a positive EPDS score in the immediate postpartum should undergo subsequent evaluation to establish an early diagnosis of postnatal depression. In our study, the women most likely to develop postnatal depression were those aged more than 35 years who underwent cesarean section and whose infants required admission to the neonatal unit. These women had a relative risk 6 times higher than that of other women. Consequently, these patients should be reevaluated in the late postpartum period.
