Abstract
A descriptive, observational, retrospective, transversal study was made of patients who had surgery for to uterine fibroids. All patients who had myomectomies (104) during the 5 years of the study were included. The study was carried out in the “Ramón González Coro” Hospital from 1995-2000, both included. Clinical records of patients admitted for myomectomies during this time period were analysed, and reviewed for the objectives of this study. The variables studied were. Age, examinations used as part of the patients study, topographical location, tumour size, complications, stage, myomectomy route and post myomectomy pregnancy. It was found that the examinations most commonly used were, ultrasound, laparoscopy and hysterosalpingogram. The most frequently used myomectomy route was abdominal, and subserous fibroids were most commonly found. In conclusion, 11.6% of our patients later became pregnant.
