Abstract
The presence of lipoaccumulation doubles the prevalence of metabolic syndrome in HIV-infected patients with lipodystrophy. Since body mass index was the main independent predictor of metabolic syndrome in the present study, interventions aimed at lifestyle changes should be prioritized in these patients.
