Abstract
⺠Three model systems for the study of natural pattern generation in isolated ganglia of insects are presented. ⺠Basic respiratory rhythm generation by a single locust ganglion can be studied. ⺠Cooperative pumping rhythm of accessory hemolymph pumps arises from a cricket ganglion. ⺠Fictive crawling in an isolated ventral nerve chord of a weevil larva is modulated by light.
