Abstract

For a cylindrical intersecting-latticed-three-dimensional-beam-system (ILTDBS) reticulated mega-structure with single-layer latticed-intersected-cylindrical-shell (LICS) substructures, the formation method, form parameters, support styles, and the method of connecting substructures with the main structure are studied first in this paper. Then the geometrically nonlinear mechanical model and stability analysis program are developed, and the stability of the structure is investigated. According to the formation characteristics of the structure, the buckling modes (overall buckling and local buckling) as well as ultimate bearing capacities are studied in detail and the relationship between overall buckling and local buckling is investigated through parametric analyses. Laws of determination of various parameters of the structure with different spans on the critical state between overall and local buckling are obtained. The work will provide guidance in theory for practical applications of this kind of structure.
