Prophylaxie de l’endocardite infectieuse : tendances actuelles et recommandations récentes

RésuméLe rationnel ayant abouti aux modifications profondes des recommandations sur la prophylaxie de l’endocardite est présenté. C’est en effet à partir d’une analyse rigoureuse des données scientifiques disponibles, que la notion d’antibioprophylaxie systématique pour les gestes à risque réalisés chez des patients ayant des cardiopathies à risque a été remise en cause. L’antibioprophylaxie systématique reste cependant de mise pour les cardiopathies à très haut risque.

The rationale having led to the profound change in the guidelines on the prevention of endocarditis is presented. The current trend to abandoning systematic antibiotic prophylaxis in patients at risk for infective endocarditis is in fact based upon a sound scientific background. Systematic antibiotic prophylaxis remains necessary, however, in the category of patients at very high risk.
