Abstract
Intrapleural alteplase appears to be effective in treating complex parapneumonic processes. Systemic anticoagulation, prothrombin time, partial thromboplastin time, international normalized ratio, and platelet count do not appear to be risk factors for bleeding complications. One or two doses of alteplase appear most successful.
