Abstract
Pravastatin can improve cardiac function after myocardial infarction, but through an antiinflammatory mechanism, rather than by induction of therapeutic angiogenesis. No synergistic effect for inducing angiogenesis was found by the combination of pravastatin and implantation of bone marrow mononuclear cells.
