Abstract
Increased apoptotic death of cardiomyocytes after retrograde cardioplegia as compared with the antegrade procedure implicates that retrograde cardioplegia alone provides inferior cardioprotection against irreversible ischemia-reperfusion injury both in the right and the left ventricle.
