Abstract
Legumain is expressed in both murine and human atherosclerotic lesions. The macrophage-specific expression of legumain in vivo and ability of legumain to induce chemotaxis of monocytes and endothelial cells in vitro suggest that legumain may play a functional role in atherogenesis.
