Abstract

This paper reports on wind-tunnel investigations onto models of the Silsoe Experimental Full-scale cube and models of sheet-clad and elevated sheet-clad scaffolds surrounding the cube. The wind-tunnel model of the cube was shown to give results in good agreement with previous studies. For the sheet-clad and elevated sheet-clad scaffolds the Eurocode provisions are correct for windward and side faces. However, for the leeward face, for a sheet-clad scaffold a pressure coefficient of 0.25 should be used.

► Wind-tunnel models of Silsoe cube, sheeted scaffold and an elevated sheeted scaffold reported. ► Silsoe wind-tunnel model agreed with previous studies by other authors. ► Sheet-clad and elevated sheet-clad models agree with Eurocode windward side provisions. ► Leeward face authors recommend a wind pressure coefficient of 0.25.
