Abstract
Cross-wind vibrations of a new steel chimney 100 m high caused twice damage of bolts. Measured damping properties of the chimney permitted to compare different approaches to the calculation of relative amplitude of vibration at small Scruton number. Climatic conditions during vibrations also gave important conclusions. Results of analysis are instructive for National Annex to the Eurocode 1.
