Abstract
The most recent monocentric and multicentric studies (STAR, MUSIC, TARGET) show that speckle tracking echocardiography provides indices of mechanical dyssynchrony which can predict response to CRT and also allows optimal placement of the left ventricular lead. In addition, three-dimensional echocardiography is accurate and reproducible for evaluation of left ventricular reverse remodeling induced by CRT. Thus, echocardiography is useful before and after implantation of a biventricular pacemaker.
