Abstract
The new neutron source FRM II is based on a very compact single fuel element concept. This work describes the calculations that led to the core design and gives also a fair description of later 3d evaluations, now with inclusion of all ‘as-built’ user installations in the moderator tank. Finally a comparison to some data collected during operation is given.
