Abstract

A series of ground vibration measurements were carried out during the executions of dynamic compaction (DC) at an industrial site. This site is near the seashore of central Taiwan and was a reclaimed land formed by hydraulic fill. The measured data included vibrations induced by standard and different tamping energies of DC. The vibrations of ground with several shallow isolation trenches were also measured. This paper presents the various vibration characteristics including waveform, Fourier spectrum, response spectrum, and amplitude attenuations with distance. The influences of tamping energy and isolation trench on ground vibration are also displayed.
