Abstract
The word “psychoanalysis” has many meanings. To determine whether Freudian psychoanalysis is a pseudoscience we must distinguish between the theory and the interpretations of behaviors. We must also clarify the meaning of “pseudoscience”. Freudian and Lacanian psychoanalysis have not succeeded in becoming real empirical sciences. It is possible to see them as hermeneutics if some conditions are fulfilled.
