Abstract
The Gaussian radial basis functions and first-order shear deformation theory are presented to calculate the natural frequencies of generally laminated composite plates. Several numerical examples are used to show convergence and accuracy of the present method. It is found that the natural frequencies computed with shape parameter c=1.7×NS (NS is the number of node at the each side) converge to available published results most rapidly. The results of the present paper are in good agreement with the results already reported in the literature, which demonstrate the high numerical accuracy of the Gaussian radial basis function for vibration analysis of generally laminated composite plates.
