Abstract
This paper describes a new approach to solving the problem of the lateral buckling of I-beam sections continuously restrained at the flange and with an imposed axis of rotation. The method is based on the analysis of buckling of an isolated equivalent profile subjected to compression. The governing differential equations of the deformed configuration are described and resolved numerically by using Galerkin's method. Several cases of distribution of normal force are considered in the resolution. The Numerical solutions are used to develop simple and practical formulations.
