Análisis sinomédico de la enfermedad por el virus del Ébola

ResumenLa enfermedad por el virus del Eébola, por su gran mortalidad, representa una gran amenaza para la humanidad. Aunque por el momento la enfermedad se encuentra delimitada a África, esta puede propagarse al resto del mundo. En la actualidad no se dispone de tratamiento ni vacuna efectiva que ayude al control de esta enfermedad. La Medicina Tradicional China tiene una rica experiencia en el estudio y control de las enfermedades epidémicas. La especialidad de esta medicina que las estudia se denomina: ciencia de las enfermedades febriles (温病学 Wen Bing Xue). En este documento se analiza, desde un punto de vista teórico, cómo se puede comprender la enfermedad por el virus del Eébola dentro del contexto de las enfermedades febriles y cuál es su evolución y su tratamiento con herbolaria y acupuntura. También se analiza la regulación de las citocinas proinflamatorias como efecto de la aplicación de la acupuntura, que pudieran ayudar a evitar el choque y reducir la tasa de mortalidad.

The Ebola Virus Disease (EVD), for its high mortality, represents a major threat to humanity. Although at present the disease is delimited to Africa, it can spread to the rest of the world. Currently, there is not one effective treatment or vaccine that helps control this disease. Traditional Chinese Medicine has a rich experience in the study and control of epidemic diseases. The specialty of this medicine that studies them is called: Febrile Diseases Science (温病学 wen bing xue). In this paper we analyze from a theoretical point of view how to understand the Ebola Virus Disease within the context of the febrile disease, its evolution, and treatment with herbs and acupuncture. We analyze the pro–inflammatory cytokines regulation by acupuncture that could help prevent shock and reduce the mortality rate.
