Abstract
Situating the patient in his or her environment lies at the very heart of homeopathic practice, according to Hahnemann. It is particularly true in the context of a chronic disease such as asthma. The first stage is the search for an atopic terrain, in accordance with current recommendations. Knowledge of immunological mechanisms, of the interaction between the immune system acquired through Toll-like-receptors and dendritic cells and of the role of warning signs, throws light on the complex history of many asthmatic patients. Finally, the role of the products responsible for external and internal pollution, whether they be fine particles, volatile organic compounds or mildew spores, form part of the prevention advice, the choice of remedies and the raising of awareness of this modern-day curse.
