Abstract
If not diagnosed or properly managed, odontogenic infections may seriously affect the patient's health and, in a small number of cases, they can lead to the necessity of hospitalization. A correct diagnostic classification and a targeted and effective medical therapy are fundamental steps to forestall the onset of antibiotic resistances. In fact, these may increase the patient's morbidity and mortality as well as contribute to the medical therapy failure.
