Abstract
Bisphosphonates are frequently used drugs, administered either orally or systemically, for the treatment of osteoporosis or as part of a chemotherapy regimen for varying malignancies. Since orthodontic treatment in adults has become more and more accepted, orthodontists should be aware of the risks, benefits and effects of bisphosphonates on the patient's general health, as well as of their possible influence on orthodontic treatment.
