Abstract
A narrative literature review shows that is not possible to find a unique etiological factor in the development of non carious cervical lesions. These lesions have, probably, a multifactorial etiology where occlusal forces, erosive factors on dental hard tissues and dentin proteolytic processing play an important role in the onset of lesions. The stress-corrosion theory for the development of non carious cervical lesions could have a rationale.
