Abstract
Xerostomia and salivary glands hypofunction are two conditions which the dentist must face every day and that are often confused with each other. It is really important for the management of these patients the knowledge of anatomical and physiological bases of the salivary glands, methods of salivary flow quantification, systemic diseases and oral manifestations associated, and potential therapeutic options.
