Abstract
Objectives. The authors' aim is to provide clinical guidelines for the management of soft tissues during endodontic surgery, with particular emphasis on minimally invasive approaches. Materials and methods. The authors provide a synthesis of the evidence-based scientific literature on endodontic surgery techniques and relevant publications in the field of periodontics. Results. The more widely recommended techniques for soft tissue management in endodontic surgery involve approaches that are minimally invasive (at both the patient and soft-tissue levels). Comparisons with periodontal surgery are important because they reveal fundamental principles for all types of oral surgery. Conclusions. Use of specific soft tissue management techniques produces excellent results (also from an esthetic point of view) and can significantly decrease the risk of post-surgical complications.
