Abstract
The nasolabial cyst (NC) is an uncommon non-odontogenic cyst arising in the maxillofacial tissues. This lesion presents in an extraosseous location in the region of the nasolabial fold and can cause swelling in the furrow, alar nose elevation, and upper lip projection. Most nasolabial cysts are unilateral and very few cases of bilateral occurrences have been reported in literature. Despite the uncommon occurrence of nasolabial cysts, it is important to recognize the characteristics of this lesion. The purpose of this paper is to present four rare cases of nasolabial cysts including two cases of bilateral occurrences. This represents the single largest collection of nasolabial cysts in the Indian literature up to the best of our knowledge. A review of the literature and discussion of the histology, etiology, and different modalities of treatment is also presented.
