Abstract
In 1965, on discovering osseointegration, Professor Brånemark treated his first patient. Forty years later, implant reliability is acknowledged by all. Immediate loading is the major advance of the last decade. Currently, surgeons can reasonably offer to fit total fixed implant-supported prostheses the same day the implants are inserted. Using a pre-implant scan, more and more effective 3D computer software provides the surgeon with useful and even indispensable tools. Rigorous and precise computerized planning ensures exceptional predictability. Thus, it is possible to manufacture a surgical guide or pre-produce the temporary or definitive prosthesis for fitting during the same surgical implant procedure.
