Abstract
Our review of the literature shows that the prevalence of congenitally missing teeth in permanent dentition is higher than it is in deciduous dentition. The prevalence is also significantly higher in females than in males. The teeth most frequently involved are the third molars, the upper lateral incisors, and the lower second premolars. Different treatment options are available for this clinical situation. A specific treatment plan should be drawn up for each patient based on the dentist's clinical judgement.
