Abstract
The cranio-cervico-mandibular system functions as a unit and its parts cannot be isolated from one another. Obstruction of the nasal airways or any increase in the vertical dimension of occlusion can lead to head extension in an attempt to make breathing easier. This effect, in turn, may result in an excessive vertical growth of the face. Moreover, patients with temporomandibular disorders usually have symptoms in the neck region, a forward head posture, and a backward mandibular position.
