Abstract
Patients with postlingual deafness achieved large benefits from cochlear implants. It seems that the use of such device in young patients with prelingual type of deafness, despite the lack of benefits in understanding the speech in the auditory way, the lack of improvement of language skills and articulation, is not synonymous with therapeutic failure. The final evaluation of effectiveness of cochlear implantation should consider the user opinion as well.
