Abstract
The risk of caries and periodontal disease is higher in orthodontic patients with fixed appliances. The prevention of these pathologies relies on a thorough oral hygiene, periodic applications of fluoride and/or chlorexidine (varnishes, mouthwashes, sprays, etc.), and regular supervisions by the oral hygienist and the orthodontist.
