Over the past several years, there has been a steadily increasing interest in self-ligating bracket systems in the orthodontic profession. There are several different types of these systems and the most important factor differentiating one from another is their functioning mode. It is this functioning mode and its impact on the management of patient care that the orthodontist must first evaluate to determine which type of self-ligating bracket best fits his/her practice philosophy. The purpose of this article is to provide a perspective on the operating mode of the Time interactive self-ligating bracket. A treated patient is presented who is representative of results typically obtained with the system by a practitioner after 10 years of exclusive use of this system.
