Abstract

The quality-of-life data for children are less well developed than that for adults. Measurement difficulties arise because of a lack of a concept of quality of life in children and problems caused by developmental changes and the appropriateness of using a proxy. Over the past few years several measures designed specifically for assessing the impact of oral and orofacial conditions on the quality of life of children have been developed and evaluated. In future it is likely that the use of these measures will progress along with the use of qualitative approaches.
