Abstract

ObjectiveThis study was performed to evaluate the healing kinetics of combining Nanobone® and PRF following enucleation of large mandibular cysts.Materials and methods15 patients with large mandibular odontogenic cysts were treated by enucleation and grafting the bone defects by a combination of Nanobone® and PRF. Post-operative clinical and radiographic follow-up were performed. The change in the surface area and bone density of the bone defects was measured using cone beam computerized tomography (CBCT) immediately post-operatively, and after 6 and 9 months.ResultsAccelerated wound healing was observed in all cases without any signs of post-operative complications. On the 9th month post-operatively the surface area decreased by 51% and there was an increase of 50.8% in bone density.ConclusionNanobone®/PRF combination accelerated bone healing and improved the quality and quantity of regenerated bone.
