Abstract
This article discusses the methodology of rapid readout tests, in particular skin-prick tests, open tests and epidermal tests with readouts at 30Â minutes and intradermal tests. These tests are used for a large number of allergens: seasonal environmental airborne allergens, dust mites, household insects, animal allergens, moulds, food allergens, formed agents, occupational allergens, drug allergens, etc. We discuss the risk of cross allergies between allergens. Finally, the skin-prick test is the preferred first-line test because of its ease of use and safety.
