Abstract
We are reporting an atypical clinical presentation of Trichophyton rubrum dermatophytosis during immunosuppression. A 59-year-old patient receiving immunosuppressive chemotherapy developed cutaneous lesions, in the inguinal folds and the pubis, described as erythematic-purplish nodules. Mycelium on histopathology led to the diagnosis of deep cutaneous mycosis. The final diagnosis is a T. rubrum abscess because of T. rubrum on biopsy culture. The administration of antifungals by oral route associated with the immunity restoration allowed the therapeutic success of this dermatophytosis.
