Abstract
Microsporum nanum is a cosmopolitan dermatophyte rarely isolated in human. This fungus is responsible for numerous dermatophytosis in the pig, whereas the human attacks have been less described. The mycological diagnosis is based on the direct examination of the lesions and on the results of the culture. The objective of this work is to report a rare case of M. nanum isolated and identified in a scalp lesion on a 50-year-old woman and to discuss the criteria of the mycological diagnosis with a review of the literature. The present observation would be the second case of human tinea with M. nanum described until now in Morocco.
