Abstract
Patient Specific Instruments (PSI) is new and innovative technology, which seems promising in providing better and accurate mechanical alignment in primary total knee arthroplasty (TKA). It also offers several other associated advantages like decreased operative steps, operative time, blood loss and pain. Due to better OR efficiency there is increased turnover of the patients in a busy, high volume set up. Due to local manufacturing process facility available, the procurement time for these customized jigs has reduced to less than a week and that too a much reduced cost. The learning curve for this technology is very little for surgeons and there in no capital investment required by the hospitals.
