Abstract

Multimodality therapy has become the standard of care for the vast majority of solid malignancies. Clinical investigations are expected to help validate as well as generate novel strategies to predict radiation response/resistance. In addition, the establishment of useful biomarkers will usher a new era of personalised oncological medicine. Advances in radiation technology and delivery have the potential for providing higher control rates, minimising toxicities and providing the ideal goal of ‘cure with good quality of life’.The rapid progress and ongoing research currently happening in this field promises to bring the oncological community closer to achieving this ideal.
