The Diabetic Foot

Diabetic foot is a common yet underappreciated problem. The present article discusses the etio-pathogenesis of diabetic foot and its management in brief. Emphasis has been made on practical approach and prevention as early intervention can prevent loss of limb or life. Identification of ischemic etiology is important as surgical intervention can lead to a good long term outcome in such patients. Management is best carried out with a multi-disciplinary approach which includes the endocrinologist, vascular surgeon and pediatrist.
