Abstract
Deep brain stimulation surgery was carried out 32 patients of movement disorders including 31 cases of advanced Parkinsonism and one patient of dystonia. All these cases were carefully selected by neurophysician specialized in movement disorders. UPDRS scaling was done in all the cases before and after surgery. Target localization was done with the help of image fusion technique using frame based CT scan and MRI films. Microelectrode recording and intraoperative neurostimulation were done in all the cases before permanent implantation of microelectrode in subthalamic nucleus in cases of Parkinsonism and globus palidus in case of dystonia. All the patients showed remarkable response except one patient of dystonia.
